Stained and Sealed - A new stool

My neighbors decided they had enough of us and moved a few weeks ago. (I'm kidding. They were lovely and will be sorely missed!) But, they gave away a ton of furniture and we snagged this little stool for the kids. Of course, I spaced a before pic, but I got a during-and-after pic.

I was using this stool as a demonstration piece for a how to paint furniture class, so I left one leg in the original condition so I could show them the "before."

I decided to do a 2 toned look, so I taped up the top and flipped the stool over to spray the legs with white primer and regular satin white spray paint.

After I finished staining off the original dark stain, I used a walnut and a maple stain to try and do stripes...

Did it work?? I think I should have used 2 stains that were a bit more different.

This class was also about distressing, so I sanded and stained the legs.

I think it's going to be pretty cute!
