Progress

Hey everyone! Miss me? I missed you guys! Let me tell you, it's super hard to post anything while you're holding a sleeping or crying baby all day! Life with Ellie is a constant adjustment and one of the things I'm realizing is my time is not my own anymore! So, all these little projects that used to take me one day B.B. (before baby) now take me weeks!

So, a couple weeks ago, hubs was gone on a Saturday and the kids were playing downstairs and Ellie was sleeping peacefully....and I was bored. I know! What are the odds? I've been wanting to paint Jake's room forever now so I'd slowly been getting all the paint and supplies for the project. And I decided then was the time to begin!

Well, of course as soon as I started that's when all chaos broke loose. The kids were fighting, Ellie was screaming and to top it all off, there was a major thunderstorm approaching and hubs was still not home! So, this project turned into a week of slowly painting the walls (with another friends help--thank you, Mindy!) and painting the trim (with the wrong paint....oops!). Four coats of paint later, I can say we are officially done with the paint portion of this project!

So, progress is slowly but surely happening...Here's a before:

The mural was really fun, but the previous owners had painted it before we moved in and we've lived here for almost 7 years. A change was in order and I really wanted to go lighter.

I have plans to add molding and some fun prints. Like that sheet? Yeah, the blinds had been broken for, well forever, and so we decided to replace them while doing the Great Remodel. Unfortunately, the blinds we bought were the wrong size and we haven't had time to get the right ones! Life with a newborn...who knew?

Maybe even some more furniture projects in our future? We'll see....might have them finished by the time he's ready for college.

Look at that beautiful trim! I love the crisp, white look of the trim and the paint. It's so refreshing to me!

So, lots happening and plenty to share...at a snails pace! Hang in there with me, people! I'm so excited to show you the finished product.

Have a great day!

  1. I look forward to seeing the "after." My 8 y/o son has a bedroom redo in his future as well. I'm not looking forward to the work but the results are always worth it. Robyn

  2. Can't wait to see all of your upcoming projects! Take it easy though and enjoy every minute with Baby Ellie! BTW, Ellie is my 4 year old daughter's name. I smile every time I read that name on your blog :)
