Memory Lane - Remote Control Caddy

So, this was a fun and simple project I did and I'm so glad it's still working for us today. I was forever looking for our remotes. I don't know how or who would lose them (certainly NOT ME) but they always seemed to sneak away and hide themselves under or behind the couch, on the desk, or even on some occasions, upstairs. Something had to be done!

First, I went to GW and found a cheap-o little knick knack. I was happy to see that it was blue-sticker day ($1.50) and this little gem had a blue sticker.

I took it home and added these fun little decals I got at JoAnn's with a 40% off coupon (so, $1.75), with some Monkey Glue. After that dried, I sprayed it a nice, bright white.

Once that dried, I had lots of fun sanding it down around the edges and on the decals. Added some faux glaze and called it good!

Now we have a place to store our remote controls and to keep them from wandering off and getting lost in the house. Even the kids know where to put them when they find them hanging out in their favorite haunts....

Again, a simple project and a simple solution for a really big (ok, not too big) but annoying problem!

  1. You know, these are still SO useful! You can also toss in the Wii remote, your local cable company's channel list, etc. Great makeover!

  2. That turned out really nice. I like it a lot.

  3. Necessary objects can be cute too, right? I love your caddy. We have our remotes in a basket on the bottom tier of our coffee table. Go see if you're interested.

  4. Hmmmm.... I have a little bin I picked up but it has wood pumpkins on it. I painted it white and then decided to save it for fall. I wonder if the pumpkins would pop off, because we have remote helll in our family room.

  5. OMG... we have one thing in common...

Re-doing a caddy. Mine was almost gray but been re-doing for a week. Weather in Sweden isn't lovely yet, so the paint don't dry quickly.

    Happy Tuesday,

I would love to hear from you!
