Well, it finally happened. My little man decided to grow up. It was time to find him a bigger bed. The toddler bed just wasn't cutting it anymore.
So, my search began on Craigslist. I found this lovely listing for a "vintage" headboard that I thought had nice lines. I called the lady and asked if I could come and check it out. She had oiled and buffed the piece and it looked darn near perfect.
Which was great since I am in no mood to re-do any furniture right now....can we say nauseous???
So, finding the frame was not a problem. It was the mattress that about did me in. For some reason I decided to undertake this task when my husband was out of town and with all 3 of my kids in tow. They were troopers! We opted to get just the main mattress to get him a little closer to the ground in case he decided some flips were in order.
This bed is very, very heavy and solid and I think it will survive my little boys rambunctious ways. It only came with 3 bed slats so I ran to Home Depot (kids and all) to have some more boards cut for stability. For only $10, it was a good deal.
Isn't this little tin lunch box so cute? We found it at GW for $1. My little man loves to tote all of his cars around in it...makes for kind of a loud procession, but he's so happy I can't stop him.
The wall murals were painted before we moved in. I've been tempted many times to paint over them, but I just can't bring myself to do it! Maybe when the kids are older and have a little say in the decorating, we'll paint over it then.
Here are the Ikea spice rack book shelves....
Notice the closet knobs? I love Hobby Lobby! My little boys room is now a big boy room! Sniff.
