Antique Ladder Re-do

I'm sure I've mentioned this antique shop before that I LOVE to visit, Haupt Antik Market. It's only open 4 days a month, and I've missed the last several months. Finally, on a little girls-only lunch we made it over to check out the goods. I found several fun things but one was this little ladder that was screaming for my love and attention.

It started out brown and blah but after a coat of Annie Sloan's duck egg blue lightly brushed on (then sanded down) and a coat of the dark wax, I had my perfect little ladder.

I was inspired to add the basket from Homeroad's version of her ladder organizer and will be using it for some light storage in my master bedroom. But, I wanted to be extra fancy for you guys today, so we had a fun little photo shoot....

Annie Sloan provides the perfect weathered finish!

The bicycle basket was also found at the same antique shop and was used for storing pillows for a little while. I like this use much better.

The blue Bell jar was a gift from my good friend Amy. Every time we go antiquing, I always tell her how much I wanted one but didn't want to pay for one! Luckily, my birthday last month gave her an excuse to give me some! Yeah!

The quilt behind the ladder is hand-made from my husbands Grandma. She makes prize-winning quilts and was kind enough to give us one. All the grandkids were able to choose one from her collection, actually. It is such a precious gift that I doubt we will ever use it!

And there's my little ladder creation. Love!

  1. Thanks so much for the shout out Meg! I can't tell you how happy I am to have that ladder right now. I broke my ankle and right now it is holding everything I need (including my tray and crutches) next to my bed... LOL.. Who knew! I love the color of yours and the bike basket!

  2. Beautiful photos. I saw a ladder by the roadside the other day and it looked like it may or may not have been trash. I was so tempted to take it... but I didn't cause I wasn't in the stealing mood at that particular time. :)

  13. I must say that the color of the new ladder color matches wonderfully with the quilt (which is stunning in it's own right). I love the way the basket goes with the ladder too! Too cute!
