Also, in all my files I canNOT find a before picture of this. Grrr. So, while this may seem like a frustrating post, I'm actually very excited to share it with you.
This lamp base has been sitting in my garage since last fall. I just didn't have a place for it but I loved the curves so much, I had to have it. So, I bought it for $3 at GW. And believe it or not, the original color was just a lighter shade of this mossy green. I wasn't even going to paint it until I noticed a lot of nicks and scratches and thought it could use some freshening up.
It's all nice and shiny now. The shade I found at GW for $3 as well. It was marked "salvage" and I can understand because there are some VERY slight dents, but I just turned those to the wall and no one will be the wiser. I'm also considering stenciling on a number or something to that effect, but am not sure if it will make it look better or worse. Thoughts? Ideas? Anything is welcome!
Yeah, I was playing with the color trying to get the picture lightened up. As I said, red is not a good backdrop for pictures!
But, I have to say, I do love my "new" lamp with its lovely twine drum shade. I was putting it all together when I noticed the little knob to turn the light on and off had broken off. Oops! Luckily, when I plugged it in, I found it had broken in the "on" position, so at least we can use it until I figure out how to replace that knob!
