Love is All You Need

*Be sure to join my giveaway from Funky Junk Co.!

I was so excited when I found out I won a giveaway at Poppies and Play! I never win...don't we always say that? Well, now I can't.

I waited anxiously for the mailperson (ours is a woman...mail-woman? mail-girl? mail-gal?) each day to deliver our mail. Finally, my package arrived! Yeah!

I was so happy to open it and see the lovely vinyl I won...but, I needed a place to put it!

Aha! This old Ikea frame we've had for almost 10 years (wow, that's a long time!) needed an update...this would be perfect.

Like those little feet sneaking into the picture?

I have no steps of this process because I did something really bad. And, since my hubs never reads this here blog (he looks at the pictures), I feel safe in telling you my dramatic story.

I decided to spray paint the frame black. It would be so much faster! So, I taped up a bunch of newspapers...in my shower. Sigh. I know! I'm learning! I can't spray outside--it's way too cold! Anyways, never spray paint with black paint in your shower. Let's just say after I did this, I had to really clean that shower and then run to the store for mineral spirits to clean the large black streaks that had mysteriously ended up above my newspaper. It all came out, though! I highly recommend mineral spirits. Especially if you paint in your shower.

Anyway, I wanted to put a light background on my frame for the vinyl, but I didn't have any wrapping paper that I liked or scrapbook paper that was large enough to fit the frame. So, I used my Valspar stone spray paint. (Yes, in the shower. This was before my black paint debacle).

I like it! I think I might dress it up for Valentine's with some red hearts around it, arranged specimen style. We'll see! I think this will work year round in our home, though. I'm thrilled! Thanks, Andy!

so cool that you painted the paper behind the vinyl, genius! I too think this is a year round piece, but could def use a pop of color!

  10. OMG Girlfriend you are too funny, I was crackin up reading this, but WOW it looks GREAT great job! I am so glad I found you, I sent a note to my mother telling her about your blog, I am sure she will love it. Good luck with the new painting in the shower technique, luckily living in Phoenix, Az. we don't need to come up with such smart ideas as that. Have fun, and be safe.
