Wood Pumpkins

Every so often, my friend Amy (from Crazy Craft Bugs) and I get together for a little "craft day."

Today we decided to pool our resources and make pumpkins!

We started off sawing 2" x 4"s into 3 different heights. We made 3 sets of these. Oh, we had a lot of fun using a box saw for this. Someday I will get my hubby to show me how to use the electric saw. Someday.

After that, we mixed our oranges (we had several mis-tints of orange shades from Home Depot) to come up with the perfect orange for our pumpkins.

While they dried, Amy went to the backyard to find some dead sticks we could use as the stem.

Sometimes, you have to improvise to cut wood. (Yes, that's a bread knife).

Once they dried, we went outside to power sand the edges and rough up the sides. Lovely.

Then, we got our trusty drill to drill some holes in the top to put our sticks in. We wanted to keep them pretty long so we could decorate.

And we had a lot of fun decorating!

Here are Amy's.

Here are mine.

Here's my Halloween one.

Very cute! Thanks for a great idea, Amy!
