Thrifty Bench

I found this table at Good Will for a steal. A steal I tell you! So, I brought it home.

In case you can't read that, it says $4.99.

It's a very sturdy table. And, surprisingly, very heavy. Very, very heavy. Trust me on this.

I decided to convert it to a bench for our master bedroom.

So, I took it home and painted it a nice sage green. Love that color. I added some decals to the edges of the table...er...bench.

I used regular wood glue and clamped them on overnight. It probably didn't need to be clamped that long, but....I got busy and forgot. Heh.

After I added the decals, I painted the top a nice heirloom white, and left the bottom sage green. I had to distress it, of course. Everything I make ends up distressed one way or another (either by my hand or my kids).

I glazed the top with my Ralph Lauren glaze in smoke.

I tried to add some interest by taping off a section of the green before I painted the top.

Now we finally have a bench in our master bedroom. Next step....paint those walls! And maybe add some pillows or two....and maybe a cushion...wow, I have a lot of work to do!

*Please see the link parties on my side bar I join during the week.
