The Tale of The Little Stool That Could
I picked up this stool at a thrift shop for $3 last November. It has been sitting in my garage while I made grand plans for it. Oh, how I had grand plans!
Oh, little stool....why did we have to have such a complicated relationship? I had such high hopes for us! First, I gave you a little sanding, so I could turn you into a bright, white masterpiece. Why did you not want that? I only wanted what was best for you....sigh.
I even tried to dress you up. Granted, I used batting and and old t-shirt and hot glue to keep that batting in place...
But, then I covered that ugly t-shirt with a pretty piece of fabric....also hot glued into place.
After I primed you, you sat in my garage some more...maybe that made you upset? Because when I went to spray paint you a nice, clean, crisp white color, you began to drip....and bubble....and basically look terrible. So, after a severe sanding, I tried again...this time I used a foam brush and acrylic paint. A slight improvement, but not what I was originally aiming for...After three coats, and a coat of clear polyurethane, I gave up.
Oh, $3 stool....thank goodness you weren't a $5 stool....or even a $10 stool....and luckily, the girls won't care if you aren't perfectly painted....because you are the perfect size for them to sit on and play dolls in the doll house...to stand on and reach hard-to-reach-things....and that's all that matters, in the end.
So, little stool....even though we had some rough moments, I believe I will keep you. Enjoy your time in our little family!
