Chalk Holder

Some of you may remember my little chalkboard obsession HERE and HERE. Well, the other day I was at the thrift store and found this little beauty for a mere $1.

I thought it would make a nice chalk/eraser holder for my kids large chalkboard in the playroom (which I ended up hanging on the wall, by the way....too tempting for my little boy to tip over on his sister's heads).

It kind of reminded me of a tool kit, so I spray painted it a nice cherry red.

Then, I taped off a section to paint with chalkboard paint.

After it all dried, I mod podged some fun paper on the bottom.

(See the glue? Yeah, it's still drying!)

And there you go---a new place to store our chalk and erasers.

The handle makes it nice and easy for my kids to carry around...don't know if that's a good thing or not! But, it's fun and they love it!

  5. That's cute! I bought something like this at Goodwill a few weeks ago. I have no idea what to do with it. I don't have any little ones (mine is 11), so the chalk thing won't work for me. Right now, I have it holding some DVD's. I haven't even painted it yet!
