This rocking chair used to by my mother's. She was getting rid of it and I said I would take it. So, we hauled it back up in our car during one of our many trips down to Texas. I like how I've sort of inherited this rocking chair. But, the seat cushion has been on the chair since I was a kid. No kidding....that long. Anyway, I have it in my head to paint the rocking chair black one of these days, when it gets warmer, but nothing is stopping me from changing the seat now!
I found these pillow covers at Target for $5. I love 'em. Can't beat $5! So, I took one of our couch pillows, a pillow cover, some ribbon, fabric and a button, and got to work!
First I just tacked on the ribbon to the underside of the pillow cover. I used my poor man's version of No Fray (clear nail polish---hey, if it works for pantyhose!) to seal the ends of the ribbon. The button kit I had leftover from a different project. I cut the fabric down and covered the button. Then, I had to find the longest needle ever (which ended up me making a trip to the local fabric store for something called a doll's needle....hmmm....) to string the button through the cushion. But, it all came together very nicely and now I can't wait to paint!
