A Friendly Feature

I have lots of friends here in the freezing north. And I am so grateful for them, because I don't know how I would survive here without their support and friendship! I am truly gaining a love of creating and I'm slowly getting braver (more brave?) in terms of what I will try and what I can come up with on my own. But, I have to say---some of my friends have beat me to it! And, although they don't have their own "crafty blogs" to show off their skills, I decided I can show off for them!

My friend Mindy went into "advent calendar" mode:

This is her Christmas advent calendar. Isn't it adorable? I'm not sure what her trick is, but I know she and her kids had the funnest December ever, doing the little adventures under each number.
She also put together this birthday advent calendar made from a muffin tin! In each tin is a little something to do before the kids actual birthday. It's like 2 weeks of birthday fun. I think any kid would be in heaven to have this little goodie before their birthday.

Also, I asked her how she cut out the circles---with a cricut? With a special scrapbook punch? What was her secret? What, what, WHAT??? And she told me. Her secret was to trace a cup around some scrapbook paper and cut it out with scissors. I was amazed. And a little confused. Aren't you supposed to use one of those fancy doodads they have around these days? Cutting a circle made from a glass is so....old school. Well, needless to say, I felt a little silly but then again, my creative friends never cease to amaze me! And now I know I can do this creative calendar on my own!

Until next time...

  1. I am always trying to figure out what tools to use for cutting out shapes and in the end end up tracing or freehand! I've broke a cute whole punch trying to cut a felt piece, not sure what i was thinking.

  3. And I have to add, my son's Bday is the 13th of July, so it would be perfect to have the 12 days leading up to his b-day! (My husband, who's birthday is may 31, swears that all of may is his "Birthday Month." lol)
